I really don’t like doing certain types of yard work. In fact at times I almost resent it.
Recently while in the thick of such an experience I recalled a Buddhist teaching I read somewhere along the line. Here’s a paraphrase: suffering is caused not by the actual experience but how we think about the experience.
It was my thinking about what I was doing that was causing me distress. Remembering that helped me in the moment.
