The Middle of Nowhere

There’s a small lake not too far from the camp I live on. You can see it, but you can’t go there.

I love lakes like that. I mean, lakes and patches of wilderness that (until very recently) were unexplored, unknown, untouched by people.

I have a weird imagination. I get excited looking at a place like that and thinking about what it is like where “nothing” ever goes on.

I had thought that being in this vast wilderness would be quite beautiful. You know, looking at trees that go on forever. In a way it is, in a way it is not.  They seem to have only two types of trees up here: ugly and uglier. Maybe it’s my mindset.

The sunsets and sunrises are unbelievable. The moon gets so large in the sky it is awesome.
