“I won’t squander the next boom”. So went, more or less, a bumper sticker popular in Alberta in the 1980s.
The current decline, crash if you will, in the price of oil has certainly taken its toll on Albertans and Canadians, from the loss of income and employment, property value and coming increase in taxes.
The current decline in the price of oil isn’t nearly as sharp as the crash from June 2008 to January 2009.
Boom or bust is the way it is here.
Things will bounce back. Those who haven’t learned will take the next boom as the new normal.
